Beşiktaş Vice-Captain Wilfred Ndidi Suspended Amid Club Protests Over Derby Officiating
Following the 1-0 derby loss to Fenerbahçe, Beşiktaş vice-captain and midfielder Wilfred Ndidi publicly criticized the standard of officiating, specifically questioning the late penalty decision awarded to the opposition. As a result of his comments, Ndidi has received a suspension from the disciplinary committee and will miss Beşiktaş’s upcoming Süper Lig fixture against Antalyaspor. The club's management has also expressed profound dissatisfaction with the match officials and the Turkish Football Federation (TFF). In the aftermath of the derby, Beşiktaş released consecutive statements and mounted a protest by displaying a banner reading "Puppet VAR," criticizing the Video Assistant Referee system. Reports indicate that the TFF is currently reviewing the decisions made by referee Yasin Kol during the match.
