Jonah Mathews Undergoes Surgery for Severe Achilles Tendon Injury
Beşiktaş GAIN Istanbul guard Jonah Mathews has undergone successful surgery to repair a ruptured left Achilles tendon. The 28-year-old American player sustained the injury during Game 2 of the Turkish Basketball Super Ligi Finals series against Fenerbahçe Beko.
The club has confirmed that the guard will miss the remainder of the current postseason campaign. Additionally, due to the lengthy rehabilitation period required for Achilles tendon ruptures, Mathews is projected to miss a substantial portion of the upcoming 2026–27 season. This development poses a significant setback for the squad's rotation plans moving forward.
