High-Stakes Financial Negotiations Stall Mohamed Salah’s Proposed Move to Beşiktaş

Following Mohamed Salah's departure from Liverpool, Beşiktaş J.K. entered into advanced negotiations to secure the signature of the Egyptian forward. Club President Serdal Adalı confirmed that personal and sporting terms had been verbally agreed upon with Salah, who spoke directly with the club's sporting director and coaching staff. Beşiktaş planned to utilize a sponsor-backed financial structure—similar to Juventus’s acquisition of Cristiano Ronaldo in 2018—to cover a portion of the player's salary package without overextending club finances.

However, finalization of the contract hit an impasse during formal agent discussions. Beşiktaş leadership reported that Salah’s representative, Ramy Abbas, submitted a revised request demanding a 35% commission fee—approximately €5 million—on top of the agreed annual contract. Beşiktaş officially rejected the revised financial demands, with President Adalı stating that such commission percentages are unacceptable under club policy. Beşiktaş is currently seeking direct discussions with Salah to resolve the commission dispute, while Abbas maintains that the player's long-term future remains open to multiple possibilities.
