EuroLeague Officially Confirms 20-Team Lineup with Wildcard for Beşiktaş Istanbul
The Board of Directors of Euroleague Commercial Assets (ECA) has formally ratified the participation structure for the upcoming 2026–27 season. During its latest structural session, the board approved the final 20-team roster, officially granting one-year wildcards to Beşiktaş Istanbul and Paris Basketball. This decision secures Beşiktaş's entry into Europe's premier basketball tier, filling the vacancy created by AS Monaco's transition to the EuroCup.
In addition to finalizing the team lineup for the immediate campaign, the shareholder clubs reaffirmed their long-term commitment to expanding the EuroLeague to a 24-team format beginning in the 2027–28 season. The expansion project will explore a conference-based system while preserving the round-robin sporting principle where all teams compete against one another.
