Black Eagles Secure EuroLeague Return After 13-Year Absence

The EuroLeague shareholders' meeting has unanimously approved the incorporation of Beşiktaş GAIN for the upcoming 2026-27 season. The Istanbul-based club receives a one-year wildcard alongside Paris Basketball, expanding the tournament's team lineup to 20 teams. Turkey will now be represented by three clubs in the premier competition, with Beşiktaş joining reigning champions Fenerbahçe Beko and Anadolu Efes. This milestone marks the Black Eagles' return to Europe’s elite basketball tier for the first time since their lone appearance during the 2012-13 campaign.

Following the announcement, head coach Dusan Alimpijevic expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "This is a real thing." Reflecting the club's long-term ambitions for their EuroLeague return, Beşiktaş is reportedly close to finalizing a new two-year contract extension with Alimpijevic, who previously guided the squad to multiple domestic and continental finals.
