Olaitan Rescues a Point as Ten-Man Beşiktaş Hold Crystal Palace

Beşiktaş maintained their unbeaten start to the UEFA Europa League with a 2–2 draw against Crystal Palace in Istanbul on 22 October. The hosts regained parity through substitute Junior Olaitan before finishing the match with ten men. The result took Beşiktaş to seven points from three league-phase matches.

After Jean-Philippe Mateta had an early effort disallowed for offside, Wilfred Ndidi put Beşiktaş ahead in first-half stoppage time. Palace reversed the score shortly after the interval: Yeremy Pino equalised in the 51st minute, and Mateta punished a misplaced back-pass four minutes later to give the visitors a 2–1 lead.

Olaitan restored the balance in the 73rd minute with a low strike into the corner. Ümit Akdağ subsequently received a straight red card for a challenge on Jørgen Strand Larsen, leaving Beşiktaş to defend the draw through the closing stages.

Palace manager Pierre Sage expressed satisfaction with his team’s improved performance but frustration at the result, pointing to lapses in concentration around the goals conceded. Palace ended a two-match losing run and moved to four points in the competition.

Oluşturulma Tarihi: Eylül 18, 2026 07:51 Beşiktaş, UEFA Avrupa Ligi’nin ilk haftasında evinde konuk ettiği Fransız ekibi Marsilya’yı 4-1 yendi. Hürriyet yazarı Güntekin Onay, Siyah-Beyazlı temsilcimizin şov yaparak kazandığı 5 gollü maçı bugünkü köşe yazısında değerlendirdi.

Bence yok. Aynı şeyler Salih Özcan için de geçerli.

Besiktas Targets Striker Terem Moffi as Junior Olaitan Apologizes to Supporters

The decision comes in the wake of Moffi's finalized departure from Ligue 1 outfit OGC Nice. Besiktas scouts and technical staff strongly believe that Moffi’s extensive experience across multiple high-profile European domestic leagues makes him the ideal candidate to spearhead the club's frontline.

Concurrently, Beninese international midfielder Junior Olaitan has publicly reached out to the Besiktas fanbase following a highly critical and frustrating season. Olaitan issued a formal apology to the supporters for his disappointing individual performances and the team's overall sub-par campaign. The midfielder emphasized that the squad has fully shifted its focus toward intense preparation, vowing a collective commitment to rectifying past errors and restoring the club to its competitive standards in the upcoming season.
