Ndidi’s European Milestone and Istanbul Crowd Take Spotlight After Palace Draw
Wilfred Ndidi scored his first European goal for Beşiktaş in the club’s 2–2 Europa League draw with Crystal Palace on October 22. The Nigerian midfielder put the hosts ahead in first-half stoppage time after receiving a pass from Salih Özcan.
Palace overturned the deficit after the interval, but Junior Olaitan’s equaliser secured a point for Beşiktaş. The result left the Black Eagles with seven points from three league-phase matches, with Celtic their next European opponent. Soccernet highlighted Ndidi’s contribution ahead of Nigeria’s November internationals.
The atmosphere at Tüpraş Stadium also attracted attention. According to reports collected by Nogomania, several Palace players continued passing for approximately 15 seconds after the half-time whistle because they had not heard it above the crowd noise. The account linked the confusion to the supporters’ whistling.
In his post-match comments, Ndidi acknowledged Beşiktaş’s slow start to the second half but emphasised the team’s persistence and the value of a point during a congested schedule.
