Beşiktaş Take Unbeaten European Run to Celtic Park
Beşiktaş visit Celtic on Thursday, 5 November, in the fourth round of the UEFA Europa League league phase. Kick-off at Celtic Park is at 20:00 Glasgow time (23:00 in Türkiye). The visitors sit eighth with seven points after wins over Marseille and Hoffenheim and a draw with Crystal Palace. Celtic are 35th after losing their first three matches.
Beşiktaş arrived in Glasgow after a 2–2 draw at Kasımpaşa, where they had led by two goals. Celtic lost 2–0 to Falkirk in their most recent Scottish Premiership match. Both sides have been involved in high-scoring European starts for different reasons. Beşiktaş have scored nine times in three league-phase games, while Celtic have conceded nine.
Beşiktaş named captain Orkun Kökçü in their 24-man travelling squad after he resumed training with the team. Anadolu Agency reported that a decision on his involvement would follow a final assessment. Scottish coverage reported that Celtic defender Alistair Johnston would miss the match and that winger Jota was ineligible because he was outside the club’s Europa League squad.
Germany’s Sascha Stegemann will referee the match. TNT Sports 3 will carry it in the UK.
