Oh Double Sends Beşiktaş Past Hoffenheim in Five-Goal Europa League Contest
Beşiktaş defeated Hoffenheim 3–2 in Germany on 15 October, securing their second consecutive victory in the UEFA Europa League league phase. South Korean striker Oh Hyeon-gyu contributed two goals and an assist in a match whose five goals all arrived after half-time.
Amir Murillo opened the scoring in the 60th minute, finishing from close range following Oh’s assist. Fisnik Asllani equalised eight minutes later, but Oh restored Beşiktaş’s advantage in the 72nd minute before converting İlhan Fakılı’s cross in the 79th. Koki Machida’s late header reduced the deficit, with Beşiktaş holding on for the victory.
Speaking after the match, Murillo attributed the result to the team’s preparation and collective performance, saying the players had successfully applied what they had practised during the week.
