Beşiktaş Target Third Europa League Win as Crystal Palace Visit Istanbul
Beşiktaş host Crystal Palace at Tüpraş Stadium on Thursday, 22 October, with kickoff scheduled for 22:00 Türkiye time, or 20:00 BST. The match is the clubs’ third fixture in the UEFA Europa League league phase.
The Istanbul side enter the contest following victories over Marseille and Hoffenheim. A 4–1 home win against the French club was followed by a 3–2 success in Germany, giving Vincenzo Italiano’s team six points from their opening two matches. Beşiktaş have also won their four European home fixtures this season, including qualifying matches.
Palace arrive seeking a response after defeats against Lyon in Europe and Brighton in the Premier League. Their latest team news brings a mixture of returning players and absences: Ben Chilwell has travelled to Türkiye, while goalkeeper Dean Henderson, defender Takehiro Tomiyasu and midfielder Quinten Timber will miss the match. Henderson has resumed training, while Tomiyasu is expected to remain unavailable until after the November international break.
Italiano and midfielder Wilfred Ndidi attended Beşiktaş’s pre-match press conference at the BJK Nevzat Demir Training Facilities on 21 October. On the visiting side, Pierre Sage’s preparations have included addressing how Palace can handle the atmosphere in Istanbul.
